Mrs. C. R. Pettis Dies Suddenly
Mrs. Clifford R. Pettis, 75-year old widow of the late official of the Conservation Department's Lands and Forests Division for whom the Pettis Forest on Lake Placid rd., beyond the Saranac Lake Golf Club was named, died yesterday at the home of her daughter in Albany. Her death was sudden: the day before she had not complained of being ill and the night before she had viewed a television show.
There will be a prayer service for her at eight o'clock tonight at the Tebbutt Memorial Chapel, 176 State st., Albany. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Church of St. John's in the Wilderness, Paul Smiths. She will be buried in the cemetery there.
Mrs. Pettis is survived by two daughters, Mrs. George M. Saunders, at whose home she died at 13 Dana ave., Albany, and Mrs. Etta Vosburgh, of Lake, Clear. Also by three sons, Mathew W. Otis, of Lake Clear; George Otis, ,of Albany, and Fred E. Otis, of Saratoga Springs.
note: Etta Vosburgh was her sister not daughter and the "three sons" were really her brothers.
